While you can pay for your yacht charter reservation with a credit card, once you're on your catamaran cruise, you'll need to rely on cash.

Currency: If you're coming from the United States or any country using USD, you won’t need to exchange money since the dollar is legal tender in Panama. It’s commonly used in everyday transactions and can be spent freely in San Blas.

If you come by road, the transfer company will drop you off at one of the ports of Carti which is one of the ports at San Blas.

Reaching the port by boat is not feasible due to the extremely shallow waters caused by nearby rivers. Additionally, meeting the catamaran close to shore is not ideal; the muddy waters and landscape near the coast differ significantly from the beautiful outer cays we prefer you to visit.

It's highly advisable to have the catamaran stay at Cayo Limon, providing a pleasant start and the opportunity for a quick snorkel at the nearby reef. From Cayo Limon, it's only a short one-hour sail to the Dutch Cays. In contrast, if we picked you up from Carti port, it would add approximately three more hours to reach the Dutch Cays, which is not ideal.

Flying in offers a whole different experience. You'll land right next to the catamaran, and it's just a 45-minute sail to the stunning Coco Bandero.

If you take the flight transfer, you’ll arrive in San Blas around 8:15 AM. The catamaran is just a 2-minute dinghy ride from the landing strip, so you'll board almost immediately after landing.

For early risers, the earliest flight departing from Panama City can be arranged at 6:15 AM, which puts you on the catamaran just before 7:00 AM.

Please note that this timing may vary slightly due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.

San Blas is the premier sailing destination in the Caribbean, primarily due to its seclusion and detachment from the outside world. This remoteness comes with unique aspects that you should be aware of.

There are no repair facilities available.

The region lacks repair facilities, proper refueling stations, provisions, and overall infrastructure. Occasionally, technical issues may arise, requiring a sail to the nearest marina, which is 40 miles away from San Blas. If your catamaran encounters a technical problem, we will promptly provide you with another catamaran from our fleet.

If the new catamaran provided is more expensive than your original reservation, there will be no additional charges. Conversely, if the substitute catamaran is less expensive, we will refund you the difference.

We do not cancel charters due to technical issues, as we have alternative options available being an agency rather than a sole operator.

We firmly believe that air transfers offer a significant advantage over road transfers when entering the San Blas islands. Here’s why:

- Timing: If you choose a road transfer, your pickup from the hotel will be around 5:00 AM. For air travel, you'll need to arrive at the Albrook local terminal in Panama City around 8:00-9:00-10:00 AM, depending on your flight time. We can be flexible with your landing time—just ask us!

- Travel Experience: Road transfers take you to the port of San Blas, from where it’s at least a 40-minute water taxi ride to the catamaran. This ride can be longer if sea conditions are unfavorable. In contrast, if you fly in, you’ll land just 40 minutes later in the most idyllic part of San Blas, near Cayo Coco Bandero and other uncrowded spots. A quick 2-minute water taxi will take you directly to your catamaran, which will be docked right next to the airstrip.

- Fly in to Avoid Road Chaos: Road travel can test your patience, but flying offers a hassle-free experience with no airport queues.

- Experience Scenic Flights: A 40-minute flight over the jungle and stunning cays is far more captivating than the nearly 4-hour journey (road plus water taxi) to reach your catamaran. We fully support both travel options and will assist you with the booking process for your preferred transfer method. However, we encourage you to consider flying as your top choice. There are limited flights into San Blas, so booking in advance is wise.

- Easy Flight Booking: You can easily secure your flight by contacting the airline via call, WhatsApp, or email, with just a 20% deposit via credit card or PayPal.

- Road Transfer Note: If you opt for a road transfer, please understand that we cannot be held responsible for any delays or inconveniences. The Guna indigenous people manage all road transfers and ports within the Comarca by law, and these operations are beyond our control.

For guests coming in by air transfer, the catamaran will be located right next to the air strip. You will easily board the catamaran with a 2 minute water taxi ride and start your cruise. The famous and stunning Cayo Coco Bandero is an easy 30 minute sail.

For guests coming in by road transfer from Panama City, arrival is at Carti, the port of San Blas, there you will board the water taxi appointed by the transfer company. It is around a 40 minute water taxi transfer to the catamaran which will be anchored in Cayo Limon or any of the islands that compose the stunning Dutch Cays.

The exact location of the catamaran varies depending on the wind direction and sea state.

Requirements for entering Panama

• Passport that is still valid and has at least six months left on it, 3 months for US and EU citizens

• Return flight from the country of origin or to the next place you want to go

• Either $500 in cash or its equivalent, or credit card, bank statement, letter of employment or travelers checks are acceptable forms of proof of financial stability. Some nationalities are required to provide a greater sum. We advise you to confirm this information with your airline or the Panamanian consulate in your nation.

• Personal tax fees are $20 for non-residents or $5 for Panamanian residents, in cash. Credit card payments are not accepted in San Blas. If you're coming from the United States or any country using USD, you won't need to exchange money, as the US dollar is the legal tender in Panama and is widely used in San Blas.

6.Bags: Once you have made your choices on what to bring for your San Blas Sailing Adventure, the next step is to find the perfect bag to accommodate all your belongings. It is strongly recommended to avoid using a hard suitcase, as it occupies a significant amount of space in the cabin. Instead, opt for a soft suitcase that can be easily folded down to a flat shape. Duffle bags, soft cases with wheels, backpacks, or any other type of soft luggage are all excellent options.

• Panama City to Border: Approximately 1 hour 45 mins approximately.

• Documentation: Show ID card, and pay the necessary taxes at the border.

• Border Wait Times: Expect queues at the road border control; wait times can vary and are unpredictable.

• Border to Port: After crossing the border, continue for about 40 minutes to the port to board a shared water taxi to the catamaran. You may wait 15-20 minutes or longer for your water taxi.

• Water Taxi Ride: The ride to the catamaran takes at least 40 minutes, with possible stops along the way.

• Sea Conditions: The water taxi experience can be bumpy due to open seating, so it’s advisable to bring a raincoat.

• Authorized Operators: Only Guna indigenous drivers and authorized taxi boat captains are permitted to provide these transfers. Charter companies cannot operate their own vehicles for this service; this has always been the case.

Expect a wait of 15-20 minutes. – Water Taxi to Catamaran: About 40 minutes or more, depending on the vessel’s location, which varies with weather and itinerary.

• Arrival Time: Expect to arrive at the catamaran around 10:00 AM. Some companies might tell you it's earlier, but with our extensive experience, 10:00 AM is the typical arrival time.

• Checkout Time: Standard checkout is around 6:00-7:00 AM, depending on the catamaran’s location and the water taxi’s itinerary. You’ll arrive back in Panama City by 11:30 PM.

• Half-day Stay Extension: Checkout is at 3:30 PM, and you’ll return to Panama City around 6:30 PM, depending on traffic.

• Time Considerations: Early checkout due to the road transfer results in losing about 8 hours in San Blas compared to arriving by plane.

• Self-Drive Option: If you prefer to drive, you may use your own 4x4 vehicle. We will recommend a reliable water taxi to reach your reserved catamaran.

Flying to and from San Blas:

• Total duration: 30-40 minutes each way, depending on the size of the private plane.

• Flexible Scheduling: You can depart from Albrook Local Airport at 7:30 AM or at another mutually agreed time. Alternatively, we can arrange your flight from Tocumen International Airport immediately after your international arrival.

• Flight Duration: Approximately 40 minutes each way from Albrook Local Airport in Panama City.

• Arrival Time: Expect to land in San Blas around 8:00AM. The catamaran is located right next to the Corazon de Jesus landing strip for immediate boarding.

• Checkout Time: Departure from the catamaran is around 7:30 AM but we can always adapt times if requested. You will be back in Panama City at around 8:00 AM.

• Convenience: Flying allows you to bypass border chaos and land in the most beautiful part of San Blas, away from crowded tourist islands.

• Private Plane Capacity: 2-9 passengers.

• Scenic Flight: Enjoy a picturesque flight over the jungle and cays before landing right next to the catamaran, eliminating the need for a long water taxi transfer.
