Book catamaran charter in San Blas

Can You Visit Coco Bandero or the Dutch Cays on a Two-Night San Blas Charter?

We always recommend five to seven nights in San Blas. It gives you time to explore, settle into life aboard and enjoy the islands without feeling rushed. But we understand that our guests have time constraints. You may be fitting San Blas into a wider Panama trip or only have a few days to spare.

San Blas does not follow the seven-night charter format common in international yacht charter destinations. You do not need to book a full week to enjoy a private San Blas catamaran charter. Shorter stays are possible, with an itinerary planned around the time you have.

For a two-night trip, your arrival point makes a real difference. If you arrive by plane, Coco Bandero is doable. If you arrive by road, we recommend the Dutch Cays.

Here’s how the two options affect your time aboard.

A little shade, clear water and your catamaran nearby, leave yourself time to enjoy San Blas.

Arriving by Plane: Coco Bandero Is Doable

If Coco Bandero is the place you really want to visit, we recommend a private flight to San Blas.

Flying into the Corazón de Jesús area puts you in a better starting position for this route. After landing, you board catamaran which is anchored next to the landing strip. The captain will be at the runway to take you on a 2 minute dinghy ride to your catamaran. You can begin exploring without first covering the distance from the road-access ports.

Flying into San Blas puts you closer to Coco Bandero, making it a realistic option for a two-night charter.

On a two-night charter, that difference matters. It makes Coco Bandero a realistic destination while leaving time to swim, explore the islands and enjoy being there.

And that is the point. You want to remember the water, the beaches and dinner at anchor, not spend the whole trip trying to reach the next stop.

How Much Time Do You Have When Flying?

The flight from Panama City takes approximately 40–45 minutes, but you also need to allow for airport check-in and the transfer from the airstrip to your boat.

Your confirmed flight time determines when your first day aboard begins. On departure day, the captain must allow enough time to get you back to the airstrip for your return flight.

Two nights gives you one full day between arrival and departure, plus the usable hours on either side. It does not automatically mean three full days of island exploring.

For that reason, we recommend keeping a short itinerary focused on Coco Bandero and nearby stops. Trying to include the Dutch Cays as well would take time away from swimming, snorkeling and relaxing.

Flights depend on aircraft availability. We confirm those arrangements before finalizing your route.

Arriving by Road: Head for the Dutch Cays

If you choose a road transfer from Panama City, the Dutch Cays are our recommendation for a two-night stay.

The journey starts early and includes a drive to the Caribbean coast, followed by a water transfer to your catamaran. You board in a different area from guests arriving by plane, so the sailing itinerary should reflect that.

For this arrival route, we would plan around the Dutch Cays rather than spend a large part of your short charter heading toward Coco Bandero.

You still have beautiful islands to explore, swimming and snorkeling stops, and evenings aboard your own boat. Choosing a route that fits your arrival point simply gives you more time to enjoy them.

How Much Time Does the Road Transfer Take?

Road pickups from Panama City are usually around 5:15 a.m., with arrival at the catamaran around 10:00 a.m., depending on road conditions and the water transfer. That early start helps you make use of your first day. Once aboard, though, there is still sailing time to reach your island stops and overnight anchorage.

The return journey also needs to be built into the itinerary. Your captain must position the boat for the water transfer back to the mainland and your onward drive to Panama City.

Do not count on departure day being another full day in the islands. Confirm the return schedule before arranging other travel, especially an onward flight.

For a two-night charter arriving by road, we recommend an itinerary focused on the Dutch Cays.

Is Flying Worth It for a Two-Night Charter?

If Coco Bandero is your priority, flying helps make that particular trip work.

The advantage is not just the shorter journey from Panama City. It is also where you join the catamaran.

If you are happy to explore the Dutch Cays, a road arrival can work well. You do not need to fly simply because your stay is short; you need an itinerary that fits your transfer.

Tell us what matters most to you. It might be a particular island group, an easier journey or as much time in the water as possible. We can help you choose accordingly.

Can You Visit Both Coco Bandero and the Dutch Cays?

For a two-night charter, we highly recommend choosing one island group. Traveling between places takes time, and the captain also needs to consider weather, sea conditions and your departure arrangements. Adding more stops can leave you with less time to enjoy each one.

If visiting both Coco Bandero and the Dutch Cays is important to you, give yourself a longer stay.

This is why we recommend five to seven nights whenever your schedule allows. There is room to explore at a comfortable pace, adjust the route and spend another afternoon at an anchorage you love.

Making the Most of Two Nights in San Blas

A short charter works best when you leave a little room in the day.

Time for another swim. Time to walk around an island. Time for lunch without immediately getting underway again.

We will suggest a route that makes sense for your arrival point and available hours, with the final itinerary guided by conditions and your captain’s judgment.

For Coco Bandero, arrive by plane. For a road arrival, choose the Dutch Cays. Either way, the aim is to give you time to enjoy San Blas.
